First Corridor - "East Corridor"

Floor: 2

The shape of the Uffizi building is a U, with two long parallel corridors united by a short corridor.

The First Corridor, also called the East Corridor, is not just a way to the rooms, it is, like the other two, a relevant part of the Uffizi Gallery where we can admire the decoration of the ceiling: magnificent grotesques frescoed by a group of painters led by Alessandro Allori.

Along the three corridors are ancient Roman and Greek statues from the Medici collection.

On the walls, two different kinds of paintings: the small ones, called the Giovio Series, show us famous men belonging to different epochs and countries; the bigger ones, the Aulica Series,  representing the members of the Medici family.
